Step 1
Look through the weekly sale papers that come with the Sunday paper. Stores like Best Buy, Home Depot, Sears and Lowes all run weekly circulars with specials. Check the prices against each other, then take the ad of the lowest price to your nearest store as most stores these days offer price-matches with other stores. Call customer service before heading to the store to make sure they match prices.

Step 2
Check the scratch-and-dent area of your local home improvement or appliance store to find deals on dishwashers. Most stores have dishwashers and other appliances that come damaged in shipping. The store will check out the item to make sure it still works, and then discount those with cosmetic damage. This damage often appears in the back or on the side where it isn't visible once the appliance is installed. You can save anywhere from $50 to $150 on a damaged dishwasher if you buy from a scratch-and-dent department. These appliances are sold "as-is," but sometimes you can buy an extended warranty.

Step 3
Shop online for appliance bargains. Internet stores like Overstock.com and US-Appliance.com sell overstocked items at a discount. And bargain aggregators like DealTaker.com offers coupons or specials to hundreds of different stores, allowing you to comparison shop from one website.
