How to Set up Slingbox With a High Definition Television

Slingbox let you watch television channels on your PDA, laptop or smartphone from anywhere. Slingbox Slingbox models Solo and PRO work with a high definition video signal, giving consumers enhanced playback quality.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose an audio/video source. You can use either a cable connection, DVD player, DVR or satellite box as your audio/video source. Once you have selected your audio/video source, situate your Slingbox close to it.

    • 2

Connect the component HD video cables to the output of your source equipment and to the input of your Slingbox. The component cable is color-coded with blue, green and red connectors. Then connect the red and white audio connectors between the source and the Slingbox. You must use the component HD cables to transmit at HD quality.

    • 3

Set up the IR cable, which allows remote access either by smartphone or laptop. Connect one end to the back of the Slingbox and place the other end in front of your video source's remote receiver.

    • 4

Attach the network cable to the back of your Slingbox. Connect the other end of the cable to your network. You must have a router in your network in order for the Slingbox to work.

    • 5

Plug one end of the power cable into an electrical outlet on a wall and the other end to the power port on the back of the Slingbox. This should illuminate the power lights on the Slingbox, signaling that it's turned on.

    • 6

Set up the software by first making a note of the important information regarding your equipment, such as the device type, brand and model number. You'll need this information during setup.

    • 7

Place the supplied setup CD-ROM into your computer drive and wait for it to begin running automatically. If the software doesn't begin automatically, choose SlingPlayerSetup.exe on the CD-ROM to manually run the software setup. Once the setup begins, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup.

Tips & Warnings

  • You must purchase the component HD video cables separately from your Slingbox.

  • It's important that your PC or MAC shares the same network connection as your Slingbox.

  • If you have a Mac, you must download the appropriate software directly from the Slingbox website instead of using the supplied CD-ROM.
