How to Find Dynamic Avatars

An avatar is a visual icon representing a user online. While a static avatar consists of one image, a dynamic avatar is a few different images that change over time (like a mini slide show). Dynamic avatars add a little pep to your website or networking profile.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

1. Go to sites like DoppelMe or Gamers Forum (see Resources below). These sites offer tools for creating dynamic avatars.
2. Make your own. Anyone with basic technology skills can create their own dynamic avatars with tool like Gif Animator that they may be able to get free online. A Gif Animator tool creates a .gif file that is essentially the same as a dynamic avatar: a .gif image set that shifts between two or three different images. It might take a little learning, but it means you will have full creative control. You can download free GIF Animators from sites such as WebDeveloper.com and GIFS.net (see Resources below).
3. Hire a designer to custom make your dynamic avatar. Stay involved througout the creative process by suggesting colors, styles, shapes and avatar characteristics.
