Personal navigational devices come in handy when you're hiking, camping, fishing or hunting. They also are a great tools for runners to have when they go through their paces, especially in locales they don't know.

    Research online to find the companies that offer personal navigational devices. One great site to check out is Pocket GPS World which offers information and reviews on all the navigation devices on the market. For more direct information about the product, visit the manufacturer's website.

  2. Step 2

    Decide on the personal navigation device you would like, such as Globalsat GH-610 Wrist GPS, manufactured by TomTom. A wrist device works well for runners because of their convenience. Go to the TomTom website to see the specs and possible pricing information on this particular unit.

  3. Step 3

    Consider upgrading your PDA. Many people now carry PDA's and most models are either equipped with GPS or can be converted with the right conversion kit. There is one offered by TomTom for around $200. Consider the options offered by your cell phone company as well for personal navigational add-ons.
