Rate: (4 Ratings)

NASCAR Race officials are present at every racing event the organization sanctions. In fact, there are at least 40 race officials at each race. If you want one of these positions, expect to face still competition.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Develop your skills by learning about mechanics, racing, the competition, rules and what a NASCAR race official does. Participate in grassroots level race circuits. These circuits are a great resource for learning the various responsibilities a NASCAR Race Official must assume, such as inspecting, scoring and flagging.
Step2
Visit NASCAR's official website and click on their "Jobs" link. This will bring you to a page where you can find listings for open NASCAR race official positions as well as find information on how to apply for these jobs.
Step3
Contact the NASCAR headquarters and talk to the personnel department to see if there are any open positions. If there aren't ask if you can keep your resume and application on file in case a position does open up.

Tips & Warnings

  • Volunteering to work as a race official intern or assistant for NASCAR events is a great way to learn what a race official does, as well as a great way to get your foot in the door.
  • You have to be willing to work hard if you want to be a NASCAR race official. These professionals have to be at every race and be willing to be on their feet and active for long periods of time. You will also be exposed to the heat and other elements.
