Chipped drinkware is incredibly frustrating. Not only could the chip spread into a crack if not cared for, but the chip can cut your lips. However, there are some things you can do to repair chipped drinkware.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper
  • Crystal saver
  • Superglue
  1. Step 1

Purchase some 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper or the Crystal Saver. The Crystal Saver is a diamond file designed to rub out fissures in glass.

  2. Step 2

Moisten either the sandpaper or the Crystal Saver. If using sandpaper, wrap it around a pencil. Gently file or sand away the chip. You shouldn't need many strokes. You are trying to even out the chip, not completely get rid of it. It's unlikely you will be able to get the drinkware back to its perfect shape. Just try to dull or mostly erase the chip so it's not so obvious or you may end up ruining the drinkware.

  3. Step 3

Use superglue to glue the chip back into place, if you don't plan on using the drinkware again and would like to keep the drinkware as a decoration. This works great if the drinkware is a mug or a piece of pottery.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the drinkware is not an antique or a valuable glass. Repairing chips in antique things may actually decrease the value.
  • Consider having the drinkware fixed with a professional, such as Keller China Restoration.
