Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Learn about what a bulk mail service provides. A bulk mail service offers clients mailing lists, sorting and mailing for bulk mail campaigns and many other mailing services to help reach current and prospective customers. This could also include laser labeling and email blasts.
Step2
Know the requirements to register a bulk mail service in your state. You can get this information by calling your Secretary of State's office. You must register a business name and pay the registration fee. You will also need to apply for an EIN (Employers Identification Number), whether you intend to have employees or not.
Step3
Start building your resources. This should include a fast computer set up, laser printer, bulk mailing software and mailing lists for every market from which you hope to draw clients. Save all your receipts for tax records. Check out the mailing software available at stores like Office Depot and Staples. Mailing lists are available through many companies you can find through a basic online search.
Step4
Advertise and gather clients. You must have a good marketing plan to publicize your bulk mailing business in select marketplaces. This plan should include networking with business owners, contacting business owners you already know, advertising in the local media, advertising in business magazines and attending Chamber of Commerce functions.
