Instructions

    • 1

Go the a driving range. Place a tee in the ground to give you a visual target. If you can hit the top of the tee, you can hit the ball resting on it when it is time. Plus, you need to focus on the swing at first, rather than the golf ball.

    • 2

Pick a target on the driving range for every swing.

    • 3

Get your driver and address the tee so that it is located just off the inside of your left big toe (for right-handers).

    • 4

Check your stance and alignment. Your body should be square to your target, with your feet slightly past shoulder-width apart. You should form a triangle with your straight arms and chest.

    • 5

Start the backswing like Arnold Palmer by rotating your hips slightly to the right, allowing your left knee to bend slightly and turning your shoulders. Your shoulders will turn more than your hips.

    • 6

Keep your arms in the triangular position. When the club is at your waist in the backswing, it should be parallel to the ground and pointing at the target.

    • 7

Swing the club higher to bring your hands just above your right shoulder (for right-handers). Straighten your right knee slightly, bend your right elbow in toward your body and hinge your wrists a little.

    • 8

Start the downswing by rotating your hips slightly to the left.

    • 9

Unwind your body and sling the club head down to hit the top of the tee. Your shoulders should unwind faster than your hips, which will turn a little more at impact.

    • 10

Transfer your weight as you hit the ball so that your weight moves to your left side.

    • 11

Allow the force of the club to swing your body around, and finish with your hands high and left. End like Arnold Palmer does, with the club pointing straight up in the air.

    • 12

Practice slowly, without hitting a ball, and then start hitting golf balls when you feel you have the timing down for the swing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Set aside hours every day to work on the golf swing. You must repeat the golf swing until you can do it without focusing on the parts of the swing.
