If you have never watched a PGA tournament in person, you are missing out on an incredible golf experience. Although watching golf on television is enjoyable, it is a two-dimensional experience. When you watch golf live, you get a better picture of the design and layout of each hole. As you walk along with players, you get a better feel for the changes in terrain. You will better appreciate every shot, whether taken from a deep bunker, deep rough or from the trees.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide how much of the tournament you want to watch. You can choose ticket packages for one day at a time or for two days, three days or every day of the PGA tournament. Purchase tickets as far in advance as possible to guarantee you will get the tickets for the days you want.

  2. Step 2

Decide if you want to walk around following a player or if you want to camp out somewhere on the course to watch each player come through as he plays. Pack supplies according to your plan of action.

  3. Step 3

Get a last-minute weather update before you leave for the tournament so you don't get caught in the rain unprepared.

  4. Step 4

Arrive early for the PGA golf tournament to get the best views possible during the event, especially if you want to find a good spot to stay in during the day. Try to camp out in a place where you can see the green from one hole and the tee box of another hole.

  5. Step 5

Buy a map of the golf course so you know where every hole is located. Check the board to find out tee time information for the players, particularly if you plan to follow a particular player. Go to your pre-selected spot or catch up with the players you will follow.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bring plenty of cash to purchase food and drinks (think stadium prices) plus a few souvenirs from the tournament.
  • Be ready for big crowds at local restaurants. Try to eat meals earlier than normal, or make reservations with restaurants.
  • Book your hotel as far in advance as possible, preferably right after deciding to watch the PGA tournament in person.
  • Buy a periscope to see over the crowd when following players.
  • Take in a practice round if you hope to get autographs from players.
  • You will have to keep up with everything you bring to the tournament. You may love having a fold-out chair, but hate having to carry it from one hole to the next following your favorite players.
  • Don't forget the sunscreen, or you will regret it the next morning!
  • Cell phones aren't allowed at any PGA golf tournament.
