There are all kinds of occasions throughout the year to buy golf gifts for your favorite golfer. Whether it is a Christmas gift, birthday gift or a gift "just because," the right gift will remind the golfer of you throughout the year. The hardest part of buying golf gifts is sorting through the thousands of options.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a special driver or wood head cover, divot repair tool, ball marker and/or wind-proof umbrella the golfer will use in every round. You will be remembered every time the golfer uses the gift.

  2. Step 2

Choose a golf print, figure, wall hanging or other gift to remind the golfer of you and the game she loves while at home or the office.

  3. Step 3

Snoop around the golfer's bag to find worn-out gear. Feel the grips to see whether they need to be replaced (i.e. if they feel slick and not tacky). Look at shoes, gloves and the bag to see whether these items need to be replaced. Take the old golf equipment to the store and get help in purchasing the new equipment.

  4. Step 4

Talk to the golfer's playing buddies to find out what she really needs. Get several gift ideas so the golfer won't know which gift she is getting after the friends share the secret.

  5. Step 5

Read through a golf magazine to find the latest and greatest golf gadgets. Make sure the golfer doesn't already have the gifts you plan to buy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always keep the receipts for golf gifts, just in case there is a problem.
  • A series of golf lessons can be one of the best gifts you can buy.
  • Contact a local private club to price a club membership for the golfer. Many private golf clubs offer deeply discounted junior memberships for younger golfers.
  • Ship golf gifts to a friend's house so the golfer won't see the box and know what is coming.
  • If you want to buy golf clubs as a gift, find out what clubs the golfer is interested in far enough in advance the golfer will forget about the conversation. Look at the driver (longest club) to find out the flex of the shaft. Flex is either XS (extra stiff) or Tour Stiff, S (stiff), R (regular), S or A flex (senior flex).
