Step 1
Use the rear fall throw for self-defense whenever an assailant grabs you by the front of your shirt, shoulders or collar. Start by grabbing the person by his shoulders or shirt front with a good grip.

Step 2
Pivot away from your assailant at a 45 degree angle by bending your knees and squatting. Push his left shoulder away from you and pull his right shoulder toward you.

Step 3
Place your right foot on your assailant's left hip, which should be the furthest one away from you. With your foot planted, fall backward, using all of your body weight to develop momentum and knock your assailant off balance.

Step 4
Extend your right leg while you fall backward, forcing your assailant to pivot toward your left side. With your hands still gripping the shirt or torso of your assailant, turn your hands to the left as if you were steering a car. This will cause your assailant to start to spin away from you.

Step 5
Complete the throw by bringing your left leg up as you hit the ground, striking your opponent's right thigh to cause additional pain.

Step 6
Try this move as a way to get out of a headlock. Simply drop your body down as low as possible and execute the same moves. With this position, however, you can throw your assailant backward or over your head, instead of to the side.
