How to Organize an April Fool's Day Party
If there is any specific day of the year when your guard should be up, it's April Fool's Day. No one is safe from pranksters on April 1st, and anyone can end up a target. But that doesn't mean that April Fool's Day is just about tricking one another or playing pranks.
Many people choose to organize April Fool's Day parties for friends and family, and you can, too.

1
Begin to organize your party at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance. Trying to organize a party at the last minute can be very difficult or impossible to pull off. Give yourself enough time to go shopping, send out invitations and prepare for the party.
-
2
Determine how much you want to spend on the party. Your budget will be determined by how many guests and by what you want to serve. A safe bet is to assume you'll need to spend roughly $15 per person, more if you intend to serve alcohol at the party. You can also choose to co-host the party with someone else to help divide the cost.

3
Send out invitations to your party. You can use a website like Evite.com to send electronic invitations (which people can RSVP to right on the site), or send out paper invitations (see Resources below). Just be sure to leave plenty of lead time if you need people to RSVP.
-
4
Buy any materials or components you may need for April Fool's Day party games. You'll probably want playing cards, board games, or anything else specific April Fool's Day party games call for.
-
5
Organize the evening and give it structure. For example, serve drinks and appetizers as people arrive, then have a nice buffet. Once everyone has arrived and has gotten comfortable then you can start playing games and getting everyone involved in activities.

Tips & Warnings
Have a prank occur at the party, one for all of your guests. For example, you could collect keys from everyone if alcohol is being served and then "misplace" everyone's keys, or you could sneak out and place fake parking tickets on each of their cars.
Don't host party games that could be considered crude or offensive, unless you know your guests are completely comfortable participating. It's best to organize a party that's innocent, particularly if you invite co-workers and people you don't know very well.

This is a good idea. I love April First. It is my favorite day of the year. In the Army a friend of mine pretended he was choking. Everyone got scared and called 911. Someone attempted to give him the Heimlich maneuver, etc. It was not good. He got in trouble for it. What I am saying, is NEVER fake a medical emergency for a joke! It isn't funny and it will get you into trouble!
