Things You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, XML, XSL/XSLT
  • Knowledge of web application development tools
  1. Step 1

Meet the minimum qualifications you'll be expected to have to become an Internet production analyst. Generally, these include a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and practical experience as a web designer, developer or producer. Get the work experience you need by freelancing when you complete your computer science (or related) program.

  2. Step 2

Attain proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) or equivalent programs.

  3. Step 3

Learn HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, XML, XSL/XSLT and other widely used website interface design technologies. These topics should be covered when you pursue your computer science degree. However, if you want to supplement your in-class learning, it's always a good idea to stay on top of technology by picking up a good guide book and teaching yourself what you need to know.

  4. Step 4

Learn how to code scalable HTML and JavaScript applications in cross-browser and cross-platform formats.

  5. Step 5

Attain a proficiency in the use of object-oriented web application development tools. The most commonly sought-after skills include ASP, .NET, SQL Server, JSP, PHP and MySQL, though this should not be considered a complete list. The specific requirements will vary from job to job, depending on the employer's needs.

  6. Step 6

Demonstrate a good understanding of server applications, website graphics tools and Internet systems design. Again, your computer science background should give you the tools you need to excel in these areas. If you're weaker in some than in others, hit the books and get up to speed. The job market for an Internet production analyst is highly competitive.

  7. Step 7

Become familiar with key concepts in web-based marketing. These include search engine optimization and affiliate Internet marketing. While marketing your company's website will not be among your primary responsibilities when you become an Internet production analyst, you'll be able to perform your job more effectively if you have cross-disciplinary knowledge.

  8. Step 8

Be aggressive in your job search. Network, promote yourself and get your resume into as many hands as possible.

Tips & Warnings
  • Interpersonal skills, communication skills and project management skills are some of the most important ancillary skills you'll need to develop to get top Internet production analyst jobs. Be prepared to demonstrate them during a job interview.
