Step 1
Look at your skin in places where an animal has had contact with you. This includes licking, scratching or even just rubbing. You'll usually be able to recognize the tell-tale signs of allergy symptoms within minutes of contact.
-
Step 2
Note that redness and swelling are common allergy symptoms. These symptoms can occur on any part of your body, but are most common in areas where the skin is more sensitive, like the back of the hand, the neck, the eyes or the chest.
-
Step 3
Pay attention to your eyes and note whether they become bloodshot. Bloodshot eyes is one of the easiest allergy symptoms to recognize. Bloodshot eyes usually accompanies swelling of the eyes.
-
Step 4
Watch for sniffling and sneezing. Respiratory problems are typically the first symptoms of an allergy attack. Coughing and increased mucous levels are also common dander allergy symptoms.
-
Step 5
Keep track of any headaches and muscle aches that develop after coming into contact with an animal. Headaches are most often associated with sniffling and sneezing as a result of swollen sinuses and glands.
-
Step 6
Keep track of any instances of dizziness, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. These are typically considered more severe allergy symptoms. Difficulty swallowing and marked confusion are also considered severe and require immediate medical attention.
