How to Make Buttermilk Rolls in a Bread Machine

Make your own rich, buttermilk dough in the bread machine, then roll into a clover-leaf shape, let rise, and you'll have some of the best fresh dinner rolls you can imagine. This is a favorite recipe at our house for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, just the time you want to go the extra mile with the dinner rolls you serve.

Things You'll Need:

  • 3/8 cup low-fat buttermilk
  • 3/8 cup water
  • 2 tbs. butter
  • 1 tbs. sugar
  • 1 tsp. Kosher salt
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 tsp. active dry yeast
  • Muffin tins
  1. Step 1

    Place all ingredients in your bread machine's bread pan, select the dough setting and press start.

  2. Step 2

    When dough cycle is complete, remove dough from pan. Turn out onto a lightly-floured cutting board.

  3. Step 3

    Lightly grease 9 cups of a 12-cup muffin tin.

  4. Step 4

    Dip hands in flour. Pinch dough into small balls and roll in your hands to make them uniform. Place three dough balls into the bottom of each muffin tin, crowding if necessary. This is enough dough for 9 dinner rolls.

  5. Step 5

    Cover at let rise about 30 minutes to 1 hour, until the dough has doubled in size.

  6. Step 6

    Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Bake rolls for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

  7. Step 7

    Remove from oven and serve hot or warm.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can reheat these in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds.
