Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- High heels
- Gel inserts for ball of foot
- Heel cushions
- Arch supports
- Shoe tree
Step1
Make sure your shoes are the right size. Sometimes you may think that you are a 9 but when your feet spread out, you’re really a 10. That is a very common mistake. Make sure when you do try on shoes you walk around in them a little bit before you buy.
Step2
Determine the origin of the pain. You have your shoes, now walk around your house, where does it hurt? Identify the area or areas that are giving you problems.
Step3
Pinpoint the spot. If it is the ball of the foot, which is extremely common, take your gel inserts for your ball of the foot. Throw them in the shoe and see if they help. If they don’t you may need to double-up on gel inserts.
Step4
Know that if it is the back of the heel that is bothering you, take your heel cushions and place them where it hurts. If this doesn’t correct the problem, you may need to stretch out the heel with a shoetree.
Step5
Know that if your arch isn’t supported enough, that’s fine, just take your arch supports and stick them in your heels. Arch supports are usually pretty ugly so make sure to get ones that you cannot see through your heels.
