We’ve heard that adding foods made with whole grains to our diets is a good thing to do. ith whole wheat, skim milk and canola oil, these whole wheat waffles are a simple and delicious way to eat healthier. Best of all, kids love them. Read on to learn how to make whole wheat waffles.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 ¼ cups whole wheat flour
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • 1 ½ tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 2 ½ cups skim milk
  • ¼ cup canola oil
  • Waffle iron
  1. Step 1

    Heat your waffle iron.

  2. Step 2

    Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Stir with a wire whisk until blended.

  3. Step 3

    In a small bowl, beat eggs. Then add milk and vegetable oil to eggs. Stir to combine.

  4. Step 4

    Pour liquid ingredients into flour mixture. Beat with the whisk until smooth.

  5. Step 5

    Bake waffles according to waffle iron manufacturer’s directions.

  6. Step 6

    Serve immediately topped with your favorite fruit or syrup.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make extra waffles to freeze. Wrap them individually in waxed paper and place them in freezer bags. Pop them from the freezer to the toaster for a quick and easy homemade breakfast.
  • You also can make the batter the night before and refrigerate it. If it is too thick when it’s time to bake, stir in a little milk at a time until you have the right consistency.
