Ever notice how complicated it might be to find sports leagues? This article will tell you exactly how you can find sports and recreation within your area.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Web Browser
  • Internet Connectivity

Step1
First attempt to go to websites that are used primarily to organize sports and recreation. For example, you can go to: http://www.FindSportsNow.com
Step2
Check local newspapers, which often have information regarding upcoming sports leagues and events.
Step3
Lastly, you can try using Search Engines. You might be wondering why I would recommend using search engines last. The reason is simple...when you search for sports related activities, most major search engines mark certain keywords (such as: sports, soccer, football, baseball, etc.) as "monetizing keywords" and will return results for companies that are paying to advertise. For example, if you search for "Soccer in Miami, FL" you would expect to find soccer clubs and leagues in Miami, FL. However, most major search engines will instead list companies that SELL Soccer equipment in Miami, FL (example from Google on 12.19.2007 - "Soccer Outlet, Miami FL"). I'm assuming this is not what you want. However, you can narrow you searches by typing "Soccer Leagues in Miami, FL".

on 6/11/2008 Thanks for sharing. Finding a league can be challenging. With all of the multi-sport facilities popping up across the country, you can try to stop into one of those and find a league to join.
