Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Internet connection
- Phone
-
Step 1
There are a ton of dating websites out there from specific artsy Nerve.com to the wider and more commonly used Match.com, removing any negative connotation online dating may have once had.
-
Step 2
Depending on your interest and the type of people you'd like to meet and attract, study several different sites on the web to see which you like better and might have a better chance of meeting the type of person that you're looking for.
-
Step 3
Once you settle on a site, it's recommended that in order to maximize your dating pool potential, that you create profiles up on two separate dating sites. This helps open up the possibility pool and yourself to meeting a wider range of people.
-
Step 4
Sign up and start creating a profile of yourself. The more specific and detailed you are about your profile, the greater the likelihood it will attract potential prospects to your page.
-
Step 5
Once you've had fun filling out all your likes, dislikes and interests, start uploading a few photos of yourself. Rule of thumb: Put up as many large and clear current photos so those best represent you. The worse thing is to be surprised when you finally meet someone from online in person and they look nothing remotely like they do in their photos. Be honest and forthright with your own photos. They should be no older than a few months!
-
Step 6
As all of your photos you put up are clear representations of you, be wary of the profiles that don't have any photos on them. If they can't represent themselves with a few photos, like you have, then they don't deserve your attention – move on to the next!
-
Step 7
Beware of pictures that are soft focus, not so clear or far away shots.
-
Step 8
Rule of thumb: Anyone can look good in the right angle. Beware of specific angle shots.
-
Step 9
Try to choose profiles of people who have put up lots of clear photos of themselves so you won't be surprised if and when you finally decide to meet them in person. That's got to be the worse shocker: To have someone grossly misrepresent themselves from their photos.
-
Step 10
You can correspond and email someone online back and forth for a little bit, but sometimes it's best to set up a face-to-face meeting in a public place (just in case) early in the game so you can decide sooner than later if you have any chemistry with this person and want to continue on to the 2nd date.
-
Step 11
It's recommended that you suss someone out soon after you start corresponding with them so as not to waste either your time or their's down the line if one of you turns out not to be as interested.
-
Step 12
Maximize your dating pool and dive into checking out someone's profile, but keep in mind some of the above suggestions to ensure you don't come across any duds.
