Having a long layover in an unfamiliar place can be stressful and boring, but it doesn’t have to be. There are more options than you may realize to take advantage of the time you’re given between flights.
If you have a few hours to kill, why not leave the airport and go exploring? You may have to time to eat at a fun restaurant, see some sights, and or just enjoy a foreign city you might not otherwise see.
Step2
Many airports are now offering mini spa treatments for travelers. Some of the airports you can find them in include Vancouver, Denver, Chicago, Hong Kong, Seattle and Miami. Spas are excellent layover stress-busters that offer massages, facials, pedicures and even oxygen therapies.
Step3
Some airports have fun shops and they usually relate to the theme of the city. With time to kill and souvenir gifts to buy, layovers are the perfect time to do some shopping.
Step4
If you’re feeling cramped from the first leg of your flight, the layover is a good time to get the blood pumping by taking a brisk walk throughout the airport. It’s good exercise and it’ll give you an energy boost.
Step5
Layovers are a great time to catch up on calls. Make sure your cell phone is charged beforehand and use the layover time to touch base with an old friend or conduct business.
Step6
If you have a laptop with you, there are hook-ups throughout most airports that allow you to use your computer. Even if you don’t, many airports have kiosks that offer Internet service for a fee. Some airports even have Internet cafes so you can eat, drink and cruise around in cyberspace during your layover.
