A few odd jobs can earn a lot of spending money.

Even earning $40 a week can cover some costs like groceries or go towards your savings account during college.
If you have your tuition and fees covered by your parents, a scholarship, or a loan you might enjoy earning some spending money for weekends.

   Look for people advertising available yard work, tutoring, or child care in your local paper, university's paper, and on your university's website.

   Decide what services you will provide. You may have experience baby sitting, or enjoy yard work. If you like animals, you may like to pet sit or walk dogs. Some older people may hire you to help them move, so if you are physically fit, you can earn a lot per hour doing one-time jobs.
   Tutoring is a well-paying job and there are always students in both college and local elementary schools that could use some help.

   Decide how much to charge for your services before you advertise. You should set your prices, not the customers. Consider the amount of time the work will take, the gas you will use to get there, and how much the customer would pay for equivalent services elsewhere.

   Make advertisements explaining the work you do and how much you charge. Include your name, phone number, and email address. Specify the best time to reach you. Provide little pull-off tabs with your contact information. If the job requires special equipment, explain which equipment you will provide.

   Post the advertisements where they will reach the people most likely to need your services. Post advertisements for babysitting or tutoring in elementary schools and daycares. Post advertisements for yard work and heavy lifting at places popular with seniors.

   When you are contacted by clients, be polite and professional. Record their requests and the time and date of your appointment in a planner.

7. Arrive at appointments on time and perform your work well. Happy customers will recommend you to their friends, and word of mouth is the best form of advertising.
