It’s finally here. After months of planning, your wedding day has arrived. This is your day to shine, when all eyes are on you. And all eyes WILL be on you. With all of the stress, (and sometimes drama), leading up to this momentous occasion, it’s easy to get carried away and let your hair down a little too much. And then, before you know even know it, two glasses of bubbly turns into five or six, and lo and behold, we have a drunk bride.
If you want to watch your wedding video without cringing at images of you doing the rump shaker with the best man or stumbling into the deejay booth, follow these tips for a sober reception.
Eat throughout the day. Yes you are nervous. Yes, your dress is fitted. But even the slightest tummy bulge is better than blacking out during your reception. Even a few small healthy snacks before the ceremony will do wonders before drinking.
Step2
Eat again. If you aren’t having a sit-down dinner, then make sure you and your husband take a few minutes to partake from the buffet. After all, you paid for it. You might as well enjoy it. And again, it puts a little something in your stomach to absorb the vino.
Step3
Slow down. Sure, things are moving at a fast pace and you may be more than a little frazzled. Slamming the wine quickly may calm your nerves initially, but it can hit you hard an unexpectedly, so pace yourself. If you are feeling overwhelmed, step away from the crowd for a few deep breaths by yourself.
Step4
Assign a buddy. Before the big day, ask your maid of honor or a good friend to “remind” you to eat, slow down on the booze, or both!
