Wearing an updo bun hairstyle is popular for formal occasions such as weddings, proms and dinner parties. Having a professional give you the updo bun hairstyle can be very expensive; in this article you will learn how to create a simple updo bun on your own.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Towel
  • Blow dryer
  • Comb
  • Brush
  • Styling Gel
  • Hair Spray
  • Flat Iron
  • Hairpins
  • Hair bands
  1. Step 1

Start by washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner. Dry your hair thoroughly with towel and then blow dry.

  2. Step 2

Using your flat iron, straighten the upper part of your hair. This is an essential preparation so that your hair will look clean and not wavy as well as will make it easier to pull your hair back.

  3. Step 3

Brush back your hair then apply a firm hold hair gel to the top and sides of your hair.

  4. Step 4

Pull your hair up in a tight ponytail then spray the front, sides, and back of your hair with a firm hold spray.

  5. Step 5

Tease the bottom part of the ponytail with a fine tooth comb to give it more body.

  6. Step 6

Pull up close to the hair band and wrap around on top of the head creating a mini beehive. Put hairpins all around to secure your bun in place.

  7. Step 7

Go around and spray to smooth out all the fly aways and to keep the bun firm.

  8. Step 8

You can add embellishments by adding accessories such as pins with flower designs or add a lovely simple tiara on top.
