How to Solve DSL Setup Problems in Vista
Trouble with your DSL Internet connection on your Windows Vista machine can be frustrating. You just want to be able to surf the Web or do some work online without a hassle. The good news is that you can take measures to troubleshoot the problem and be back on your way to enjoying the World Wide Web.
Things You'll Need
- Computer (PC)
- Microsoft Windows Vista (any edition)
- Internet Explorer or another Internet Browser
- Telephone line
- DSL hardware & modem, all connected properly
Instructions
-
-
1
Ensure that your modem is on.
-
2
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port on the modem and then reconnect it. If you do not hear a click, it is not connected properly.
-
-
3
Confirm that the phone line is correctly plugged into both the wall jack and the modem.
-
4
Remove any DSL filter between the wall phone jack and the modem.
-
5
See if the lights on the modem indicate the location of a problem. If they do, check that area.
-
6
Right-click the network icon in the bottom-right corner of your computer screen and click "Diagnose and repair." This will open Network Diagnostics, which will attempt to pinpoint and correct any network problem.

Tips & Warnings
Do not hesitate to call AT&T Yahoo DSL if you need help at any time with setup or any other Internet Connection problems. They can offer phone assistance.
Ask a friend or family member for assistance if they are somewhat knowledgeable and can give you the support you need to set up your DSL connection.
Perform this procedure only in the case where you either did not receive the installation CD or the installation CD does not work properly.
This is only for Windows Vista software.
