How to choose a fraud protection credit card

Step1
When choosing a credit card, you will want to do research. Check credit websites for reviews and any other pertinent information about the credit card. Also, the financial advisers in the media can help highlight the problematic cards as well as the ones that will be less trouble.
Step2
A new and different option is anonymity, where your name and account number are NOT printed on the front of the card. The thief can then only make a purchase if you they have your pin number (which is rare). This offers much greater protection from fraud and unauthorized charges on your card.
Step3
To check out this new anonymous card, go online to the website below and sign up. You can still pay the bill online, though the card information is not displayed.
Step4
There are also virtual credit card numbers available so you do not need to disclose your card number each time you make a purchase while shopping online. You can also receive a debit card that functions in the same way and can be preloaded with funds.
Step5
If you decide you would like to go the route of virtual card numbers, you will be asked to download a small piece of software that will be installed on your computer.
Step6
Most credit cards offer zero liability, but check the fine print to be sure.
Step7
When you are ready to apply, (check websites below), go to the website and apply online. It is usually the quickest way to get your card.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you download the virtual card software on each computer that you use for shopping online.
  • Always keep at least one or two accounts open to maintain your credit reputation.
  • Beware of annual fees. You should not have to pay extra for fraud protection
  • One size does NOT fit all. Do not open an account if it does not fit your family and lifestyle.
  • Remember credit has to be paid back. If you are already maxed out, do not open another account regardless of what it has to offer you.
  • Close accounts if you are not going to use them.
