How to make a homemade heating pad

Some times that aching muscle or other pain could use a little heat to ease things up. Here's an easy homemade remedy that might make things feel a little better.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Take a bag of rice and pour it into an old (but clean) sweat sock.
Step2
Sew the sock shut. If you can't sew, or can't find a needle and thread, you can tie the end of the sock in a tight knot. Make sure the knot is very tight, so you don't have a mess of rice around your house.
Step3
Place the rice filled sock in the microwave for one to one and a half minutes, depending on your microwave. When you take it out, be careful that it isn't too warm to put on skin.

When the temperature is right, place the sock on the painful area.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful not to burn the skin. Make sure the sock is an acceptable temperature so you don't hurt yourself.
