Ginger is a soothing herb for your stomach. Think of ginger ale when your tummy is upset, or ginger root in tea for the same calming effects. So why not use more ginger in your cooking? A Ginger Glaze can be used for just about anything from chicken to vegetables such as carrots and asparagus. Try this recipe next time you are thinking about spicing up your dinner and you won't be disappointed. Come to think of it, neither will your tummy!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • wire whisk

How to Make a Ginger Glaze.

  1. Step 1

Mix the honey and soy sauce together with a wire whisk.

  2. Step 2

Grind fresh ginger into a fine powder and put 1/2 teaspoon into the mixture. (You can use more if you like the taste of ginger) If you don't have fresh ginger on hand, you can use processed ginger purchased from your grocery store.

  3. Step 3

Add the 2 teaspoons of cornstarch, more if you think the mixture is too thin. Cornstarch is not for flavor, just for texture. Be careful not to add too much as it would take away from the flavor.

  4. Step 4

Mix the four cloves of minced garlic into the mixture and stir completely with the wire whisk.

  5. Step 5

Use this mixture as a glaze over chicken (once cooked) or you can brush it on while grilling.

  6. Step 6

Pour this mixture over cooked vegetables such as asparagus, carrots and brussel sprouts and green beans.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can heat the glaze before using if you prefer, however do not bring to a boil.
