Fish and shrimp are popular around the holidays. Fish marinades and sauces help the mundane become a great taste treat.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup apricot preserves
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Medium-sized bowl
  • Wire whisk

How to Make a Marinade/Dipping Sauce for Fish or Shrimp.

  1. Step 1

In the bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, soy sauce and Dijon mustard.

  2. Step 2

Add the teaspoon of ginger, making sure it is fully mixed.

  3. Step 3

Add the apricot preserves and mix well.

  4. Step 4

Chop the clove of garlic very fine and add it to the mixture.

  5. Step 5

Refrigerate 10-15 minutes and serve with cold shrimp as a dipping sauce. If using it for a fish marinade, make sure to marinate 5-10 minutes on each side before cooking.

  6. Step 6

If grilling, use a grill brush to put additional sauce on the fish after marinating it.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you need to double the recipe, still use only one clove of garlic unless you are sure your guests like a stronger taste.
  • For thinly cut fish such as tilapia, only marinate for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • Due to the fact that mayonnaise doesn't keep very long, toss whatever dip is not used throughout the dinner. This recipe is easy enough to make again when needed throughout the holiday season.
