Undecided about the upcoming elections? Don't underestimate the power of personality and the power of common background. Oprah aside, many factors come into play when deciding your vote in the upcoming elections. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama seems to be coming from a unique point of view that often appeals to the younger generation. Now you too can see if anything clicks between you and Barack Obama.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Grow up in an unconventional household. This may be defined by racial or family make-up, such as an immigrant household, absent father, single mother, or being raised by your grandparents. You and presidential hopeful Obama may have more in common than you realize.

  2. Step 2

Spend time outside of the United States...more than a quick vacation. Obama's years in Indonesia and roots in Kenya--his father's homeland--give him an outsider's viewpoint that may play to advantage in this election. If your passport is well-worn, consider it a possible connection.

  3. Step 3

Support grass roots efforts. As an organizer, Obama went into neighborhoods and projects to work for improved housing and job opportunities, and communicated citizen needs to City Hall. He was drawn to Chicago's South Side, but you might think of any disadvantaged group or community.

  4. Step 4

Speak well. You don't have to master the art of public speaking, but appreciate a resonant vocabulary and coherent sentences.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be under fifty in mind, body or spirit.
  • Be tired of a polarized America.
