How to use OfficeMax's nifty pre-formatted video to create a viral marketing message by Elfing Yourself.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A marketing idea message (the hard part).
  • One to four photos for your elf's faces.
  • A phone.
  • A computer.
  • An email account.
  1. Step 1

Think of an idea or message you want to promote. If you are an entrepreneur, small business owner, professional, or anyone (how about helping a nonprofit or charity?)

  2. Step 2

Go to www.elfyourself.com and agree to the "terms of agreement" (TOS) from OfficeMax and get to the "elfamorphosis" page by following their basic instructions.

  3. Step 3

To start Elfing Yourself decide how many elves faces you want to upload. You can upload up to four elf faces. Think outside the box here. A face can be anything. It can be a logo, your face, a spokesperson, animal, anything. Just be creative.

  4. Step 4

The first image you upload is the primary elf. When you click the upload button, the program will browse (search) your computer to let you chose your images. Click that image and chose upload.

  5. Step 5

Next, is the most time consuming part if the image has a mouth. This is because there is an area on the elf's face that has a mouth that moves when the elf speaks. So you need to line up the image's mouth with the elf's mouth.

  6. Step 6

Get that mouth's image close to line up the images and elf's mouth by rotating the image and using the scale features that are provided on the image upload screen. Click the "test face button" to see if you like what your elf will look like.

  7. Step 7

When you finish tweaking you elf or elves click the "save face" button.

  8. Step 8

This step is the real opportunity. In this window you are asked if you want to add a voice to your elf. Click yes.

  9. Step 9

The next screen will give you a toll free with a personal access code to call and leave a voice message. Call the number and follow the simple instructions to begin your message.

  10. Step 10

This is the most critical step. Have about a 15 second message prepared to leave. It should be your elevator speech or unique selling proposition that will get them interested in taking action.

  11. Step 11

Follow the easy instructions on the phone system and when you are happy with your outcome, leave your message and go to the next step.

  12. Step 12

The window that appears next is the end Elf Yourself viral video. Here is where you can click the "preview button" and see what you have created.

  13. Step 13

Congratulations, if you are happy with yourself as an elf video just click the "copy your elf" button. A link to send people to what you just created is on your computer clipboard. Paste it and save it in a place to send as a link for others to get to your viral video as "yourself elf."

  14. Step 14

If you don't like the "Elf Yourself" version you just saw in the preview no big deal. Click "start over" and try again. It's free and fun so the only thing you have to lose is the little effort to achieve huge rewards.
