How to Receive Free Credit Alerts From Equifax

Identity theft is talked about often these days. One of the important tools that can protect you from it is to receive an email alert every time a credit application is presented in your name to Equifax, one of the three major credit bureaus. Now you can get it all for free.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PayPal account
  • Internet
  • Email account
  1. Step 1

    Go to the PayPal website and open an account for free. Sign up for a "money market" account, which requires you to provide your Social Security Number.

  2. Step 2

    Log in to your PayPal account.

  3. Step 3

    Type in the search box at the top corner of the web page "equifax."

  4. Step 4

    Choose the search result that reads "Welcome to PayPal. You are being redirected to a secure site." Clicking on it will take you to the Equifax page titled "You have selected: Equifax Credit Alerts™ for Pay Pal, FREE."

  5. Step 5

    Fill out the secure form and sign up for the Equifax credit alerts, all for free.

on 1/17/2008 Always good to know the options. Of course, these things are never quite as simple as they make it sound. It used to drive my small business clients crazy; trying to pull a report for a small business loan.
