Brides and Grooms appreciate all wedding gifts. Sometimes though, the ones that mean the most are home made gifts. These gifts come from the heart. Personalized gifts take time and effort. The time and effort is usually evident and therefore it holds a special place in both the gift giver's and the gift receiver's hearts. Making a gift can be a fun process. It is always rewarding to do something special for someone who is dear to you.

Things You'll Need:

  • Wedding invitation
  • Shellac
  • Foam paint brush
  1. Step 1

Keep all of the wedding invites that you receive from the bride and groom's families. Usually there is more than one piece to the invitation so be careful when they arrive. Don't let yourself be careless and throw anything away. Keep all invites including bridal parties, bachelor celebrations, and showers. All of these can be used for your personalized craft. Even if you have the exact piece in mind, keep everything else just in case.

  2. Step 2

Invitations usually follow a color scheme so keep this in mind when planning your perfect gift. The idea is to use the invitation and shellac it onto something wooden. This wooden item can be almost anything. It can be a small table, a plaque, you name it: whatever you feel is right for the bride and groom.

  3. Step 3

Make sure that the wooden item has a flat surface that will hold the invitation. Also, the item will have to allow shellac to adhere to it. So an unfinished surface usually works best. Pick out an item that you see fit. Then go ahead and choose other items that will be decorative and that go along with your color scheme.

  4. Step 4

The last step involves placing everything on top of your wooden item. Use the invitation as your focal point. Then follow with descriptive words and pictures that represent the bride and groom. Finally, place the shellac over everything. More than one coat may be necessary. Use your brush to seal everything directly to the wood. Try to eliminate bubbles. Once dry, you can wrap it up and bring it to the wedding.
