How to Visit Cincinnati's Krohn Conservatory

Cincinnati's Krohn Conservatory, located in the city's Eden Park cultural district, is home to over 3500 plants, representing every continent on the globe. The attraction, founded in 1933, is open 365 days, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission to the permanent exhibits is free.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Explore the Palm House. The Palm House is home to the Conservatory's tropical plant exhibits, including orchids, bromeliads and ferns. The indoor rain forest also boasts a 20-foot indoor waterfall.

  2. Step 2

    See the bonsai collection. Krohn's Conservatory houses an extensive collection of bonsai, those intricately manicured, dwarfed trees. Most of the collection has been donated by Conservatory members.

  3. Step 3

    Enjoy on of the special shows. Krohn's Conservatory hosts six special shows each season in their glasshouse, featuring seasonal flowers and plants. Also in the glasshouse is the Conservatory's citrus tree collection. The special shows require an admission fee.

  4. Step 4

    Tour the desert garden. The indoor desert garden is home to the Conservatory's cactus and succulent collection. The over 1000 specimens include yuccas, aloes, Cereus, Pereskia and "prickly pear" cacti.

  5. Step 5

    Browse the gift shop. The Conservatory gift shop features a wide array of garden supplies, plants and gifts for gardening enthusiasts. Proceeds from the gift shop go to help fund the Conservatory operations.
