Your favorite pasta combines with tomato sauce and flavorful spices to create an awesome side dish the whole family will love!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 16-oz package dried pasta such as macaroni, gemelli, or shells
  • 2 8-oz cans tomato sauce
  • 2 14-oz cans vegatable broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 heaping tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder

Step1
Heat the oil in a medium saucepan, and add the pasta. Cook and stir on medium heat until pasta is lightly browned (some will get more browned than others).
Step2
Add tomato sauce, broth, water, and spices. Bring to a boil. Simmer, uncovered, until pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
Step3
Serve along side your favorite Mexican-style dishes. Yum!

Tips & Warnings

  • If the liquid is nearly gone, and the pasta is not yet tender, add a bit of water.
  • If spicy isn't really your thing, omit the ground red pepper in step 2. The macaroni will still be full of flavor, without that bite.
