St. John's Wort is a natural medicine that can be found in Health Food Stores, or grocery stores in the Organic Department. It can be used to treat a variety of illness or symptoms, namely physical pain, emotional discomfort, depression and nerves. It can also be used to treat wounds externally, heal wounds and reduce inflammation. The neurotransmitter or the chemical transmitter in the brain will send a message to raise the concentration of serotonin. This will relax and sooth the psyche without causing sleepiness or any addiction.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • St. John's Wort tea bags, or loose tea
  • St. John's Wort tablets
  • Cup and saucer for tea
  • Honey
  • Sugar
  • Tea pot to brew tea
  • Strainer for tea

How to Prepare St. John's Wort Tea

  1. Step 1

You should pour 1 to 2 cups of boiling water over 2 tsp of dried St. John's Wort. Let it steep for at least 10 minutes. You will then filter the tea through a strainer as you pour it into the cup. You can add honey or sugar to your taste. You should drink the tea in both morning and evening.

  2. Step 2

You will have to use the tea for at least a month before getting the results you are looking for. You can obtain an increase in circulation that is good for the heart, relief from mild depression and better sleep. It will aid in diuretic problems and can be active in fighting viruses.

  3. Step 3

St. John's Wort has an ingredient called hypericin that is red in color, in the form of the flower. It is active in the area of the brain's pineal gland, which is the regulator of your sleeping and which supplies oxygen to your cells.

  4. Step 4

Visit a health food store and inquire about the benefits of the tea as opposed to the tablets. Or ask your health practitioner about the benefits of the tea. St. John's Wort comes from a yellow flower and is processed into the tea that you purchase from the stores.

Tips & Warnings
  • You will need to drink one or two cups a day in order to receive the needed results.
  • The tablets will produce faster results than the tea.
  • The tea bags are probably more expensive but easier to prepare.
  • Don't go out into the sunlight or ultraviolet light when taking St. John's Wort. St. John's Wort contains hypericin in the herb and can cause a bad sunburn.
  • Consult your health practitioner if you have any doubt in the effects of the tea.
