Hydrotherapy treatments use water to treat many different ailments and diseases. Water is a universal healer and was even used in ancient Greek, Roman, Chinese, Egyptian and Native American civilizations. Hydrotherapies use hot and cold water to either relax or stimulate the body. One specific hydrotherapy treatment is a cold friction rub, which can alleviate fatigue and increase circulation and strengthen the immune system. Read on to learn how to do a cold friction rub.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Hot shower
  • Cold wash cloth

Step1
First, take a hot shower or bath. Make sure before you step out of the shower or bath you spray your self with one last blast of hot water.
Step2
Wrap the wash cloth securely around your hand and dip it into ice cold water. Temperatures between 50 and 60 degrees are ideal.
Step3
Using a circular motion, rub your skin vigorously. Rub the entire body, or the affected area. Be sure to keep the cloth cold by re-dipping it.
Step4
When you are finished rubbing, use a towel to dry the body with the same vigorous circular motion.
Step5
When you are finished drying, your skin should be glowing.
