Children and travel can be difficult to manage together, and kids sometimes just don't understand that a hotel room doesn't have all the amenities of home. Here are some tips for coping.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Your child's favorite stuffed animal
  • A bedtime story
  • Your child's pillow

Step1
Upon arriving in the room, clearly specify where your child or children will be sleeping to prevent arguments.
Step2
Show them where the water glasses are, and help them to put some of their things into the closet and bathroom so they feel more at home.
Step3
Set them up with their favorite toy and their pillow from home before putting them to sleep at night. Read them a story to help calm them down so they can sleep in a strange bed.
Step4
Set bathroom times in the morning so that everyone can shower efficiently, and lay out your child's clothing the night before.
Step5
If your child wakes up in the middle of the night wondering where he is, gently reassure him and put him back to bed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Bringing movies from home will help make the time pass while the rest of the family gets ready.
  • Don't leave your children alone in a hotel room.
