The idea of home updates may seem daunting, but there are some easy things that can be done to make major aesthetic improvements. Below are just a few.
Painted cabinets
Paint it up. Painting furniture is an easy and inexpensive way to give your home a fresh, updated look. For a completely new look, paint the walls. You can go with bright and vibrant or soft and muted. Choose what makes you feel good. Also consider painting furniture such as coffee tables, bedroom furniture and chairs. Another easy update is to paint trim work along with kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Be sure to lightly sand and prime before painting before applying any new color.
Updated countertops
Replace old countertops in bathrooms or kitchen. Many options are available including laminate, ceramic tile and granite. You can choose from a variety of materials, designs and color, depending on how much you want to spend and the look you want.
Hang new light fixtures. If your house still sports the brass and glass fixtures, it’s probably time for a change. This is another area that is simple and relatively inexpensive to update. Today’s styles include brushed nickel, pewter and bronze, and can range from the very simple to very ornate.
Change out window treatments. Or if you still don’t have any, get some. Window treatments add warmth and character to a home. Window toppers, sheers, panels and scarves all provide numerous options.
