How to Create Your Own Social Network on Ning.com

Social networks are all the rage, and now you can have your very own network for free.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• PC with an Internet connection

1. Go to the Ning website (see Resources below) and click on the link that says "Sign up to get started."

2. Fill in all the required fields to get an account on Ning.

3. Under the heading "Get Your Own Social Network," fill in the name for your network and choose a URL.

4. Add in a tag line and description of your network on the next page. If you have created a simple logo, upload it at the bottom of the page. If not, then choose an icon to use.

5. Organize your content by dragging feature boxes on the next page to where you want them.

6. Choose a color theme, then customize the look and feel of your site on the next page.

7. Upload your photo and member information, plus any widgets you might want to add on the next page.

8. Publicize your site.

Tips & Warnings

• If you choose the badge creation option, you can place the badge on your Myspace or Facebook page so you can get more people to join.
