How to Wash Dishes With One Hand

Some households have dishwashing machines while other households prefer to rinse dishes and then put then in the dishwasher. Even though the dishwasher is quicker, some people desire to make sure the dishes are cleaned by washing with their hands.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dish towel
  • Water
  • Dish detergent
  1. Step 1

    Depending on the make of the faucet turn the nozzle by placing your hand in a “C” position.

  2. Step 2

    Turn the nozzle to your left or right on both knobs marked “C" for cold, “H” for hot.

  3. Step 3

    Using the dish detergent squeeze a small amount in to the water making sure you have the desired temperature to wash the dishes.

  4. Step 4

    Turn the nozzles off placing your hands once again at the “C” position around the knobs and turn in the opposite direction left or right.

  5. Step 5

    Taking your dish towel, dip it into the water to wet it to begin the process of cleaning the first piece.

  6. Step 6

    Draping the towel over the right or left hand placing the towel into the cups that are being washed. Rotate the dish towel in a circular motion, then in and out and place the cup using your finger tips in the other side of the sink.

  7. Step 7

    Using your thumb and index finger with the thumb on top of the plate place the plate in the water.

  8. Step 8

    The towel is now lying flat in the palm of your hand place the towel on the front of the plate in an up and down motion wipe and around the edges of the plate ensuring that the plate is clean. Using your thumb, turn the plate over to clean the back. Do this technique for each plate needing to be cleaned.

  9. Step 9

    Using your right or left hand, cup the handles of the pots and place into the water.

  10. Step 10

    Repeat Step 8 for pots and pans.
