Wax spills on clothing are all too common. It's unfortunate that the time we typically light candles, such as for holiday celebrations, special dinners or anytime to create a romantic mood, is also a time where elegant, delicate attire is worn. Dry cleaning can be expensive and a hassle. The next time you experience an unfortunate wax spill, try this easy trick that works on most fabrics.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Iron
  • Paper bag
  • Wax-stained clothing
  1. Step 1

Turn the iron on a low to medium-low setting. You want the iron to heat up the wax without ruining your clothing or melting the wax completely.

  2. Step 2

Place a small section of a paper bag directly over the wax stain. Cut the paper bag section so that it overlaps the stain.

  3. Step 3

Place the heated iron on top of the paper bag for a few seconds. The bag will absorb the wax and it should lift free from the piece of clothing.

  4. Step 4

Repeat as often as necessary with a fresh paper bag section until all the wax has been lifted.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't have a paper bag, paper towels are an acceptable substitute.
  • This method also lifts wax from carpet.
  • Do not set the iron too hot.
