Things You'll Need:

  • Several small cans of condensed tomato soup
  • 1 Large package of cream cheese
  • 1 Small container of sour cream
  • 1 Small to medium sized yellow onion
  • 1 Small container of heavy cream
  • Parsley flakes
  • Chives
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How to Make Mouth-watering Tomato Soup

  1. Step 1

Soften the package of cream cheese by placing the sealed package into a container of hot water until it is soft to the touch.

  2. Step 2

Mince one small to medium-sized yellow onion.

  3. Step 3

Open and place into a saucepan one can of condensed tomato soup for every two people to be served. Reduce the amount of water recommended on the can to one-half of the required amount.

  4. Step 4

Heat the soup on a low flame, stirring it constantly until it becomes creamy.

  5. Step 5

Add one-half of the minced onion to the soup mixture and stir until it is throughly blended. Taste to determine if you want to add more onion. If so, add all or part of the remaining onion and blend as before.

  6. Step 6

Insert one-half of the softened cream cheese into the soup mixture, a small amount at a time. Continue to mix the soup until the cream cheese is thoroughly blended. Taste to determine if you want to add more cream cheese.

  7. Step 7

Add a spoonful of chives for each can of tomato soup used. Stir in thoroughly.

  8. Step 8

Add a spoonful of parsley flakes for each can of tomato soup used. Stir in thoroughly.

  9. Step 9

Add one-quarter cup of heavy cream for each can of soup used. Mix thoroughly into the soup.

  10. Step 10

    Salt and pepper to taste.

  11. Step 11

Once the soup is to your liking, as judged by taste testing, pour it into individual bowls for serving.

  12. Step 12

Add one heaping tablespoon of sour cream into the center of the soup. Sprinkle with a small amount of remaining chives and parsley. Serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose quality condensed soups as your base for the best flavor.
  • Be sure to mince the onion. Diced or sliced onion will not blend in well.
  • Use fresh chives and parsley if possible.
  • Substitute low-fat cream cheese and/or eliminate cream to cut calories.
  • Don't heat the soup on too hot of a flame or it will scald and ruin the soup's taste.
  • Don't use more than one large package of cream cheese for every four people to be served.
  • Don't over salt or pepper the soup. Allow each person to salt or pepper to their individual taste.
