Host a picnic in your neighborhood for all Pug people and Pugs alike! Contact local and regional Pug rescue groups and ask them if they would also like to participate. Gather together some local Pug owners in your area who have adopted Pugs in the past or wish to adopt a Pug in the future. This is a good meeting point for those who want to learn more about Pug adoption or wish to foster a Pug. And don't forget to bring a Pug!

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Advertise on a free local website or newspaper as to what the Pug picnic will be all about
  • Reserve a pavilion at a local community park, or if your property is spacious enough you can hold the picnic at your place
  • Have a few kiddie pools filled with cool water available for the Pugs to keep cool in
  • Plenty of watering stations for the Pugs
  • Door prizes such as leashes or bandannas
  • A variety of dog treats

Step1
Compile a list of Pug owners and people interested in adopting a Pug in need. Advertise locally about the date, time and place where you will be holding the picnic. Send out invitations.
Step2
Host the Pug picnic and encourage guests to mingle with one another.
Step3
Talk briefly about how important Pug adoption is to the welfare of Pugs in need.
Step4
If needed, set up a portable fenced in Pug play area.
Step5
Serve food and refreshments "cafeteria style" and encourage guests to help themselves. Provide adequate water and snacks for the Pugs.
Step6
Utilize volunteers to help keep track of the Pugs and to make sure they have enough Water. Have volunteers help to set up the picnic, serve food and to clean up the picnic area.

  • Ask for a small donation for admission that can be donated to your local or state Pug rescue organization.
  • Encourage everyone to bring a dish.
  • Bring portable fencing for Pugs who need a small break from their owners.
  • Try to bring as many items that can be thrown away as possible; avoid casserole dishes and non disposable plates and utensils.
  • Ask guests to pitch in to help clean up and keep things tidy.
  • Make sure their is adequate shelter and shade for all of the Pugs; Pugs do not do well in direct heat.
  • State in the invitations that all Pugs who come to the picnic need to be up to date on their shots.
  • State in the announcements and invitations that any financial exchange or liability between someone selling or giving away a Pug to someone else is their own responsibility and you are not to be held liable.
