The current version of "The Price Is Right" premiered in 1972, making it the oldest game show in the history of U.S. television. Longtime host Bob Barker retired from the popular program in June 2007 after an impressive 35-year run, and now comedian Drew Carey is filling his former role.

Who wouldn't want to be a contestant on a historic, not to mention fun show like that? Here's how you, too, can join the competition to win fabulous prizes ... if you get lucky.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet
  • Transportation
  1. Step 1

Visit the website for Audiences Unlimited, Inc. and navigate to the page for "The Price Is Right" by clicking the appropriate image or title on the homepage.

  2. Step 2

Determine on which of the available dates you want to attend a taping of the game show and then click the button that says "Click Here to Order Tickets."

  3. Step 3

Fill out the order form with the required information: your full name, mailing street address, city, state, country, telephone number, email address, desired show date, and number of tickets desired to a maximum of six.

  4. Step 4

Print out the free tickets and the accompanying map of directions after you click the form's submit button. Do this right away because once you navigate away from the web page, the tickets and map cannot be retrieved at a later time.

  5. Step 5

Plan to arrive at the studio where "The Price Is Right" is filmed four hours in advance, whether you are attending the early afternoon or late afternoon taping. Audience members are admitted in arrival order, so the earlier you get there, the closer to the beginning of the line you will be, and the greater your chances of gaining entry and getting to play.

  6. Step 6

Wait patiently while in the studio, enjoy the individual games, and you just might get called to "Come on down!"

Tips & Warnings
  • Audience members must be at least 18 years old.
  • Dress as if you're definitely going to be a contestant on camera. Wear normal clothing instead of a costume and also refrain from putting on any attire that has visible logos or advertising.
  • In addition to the customary valid state or government picture ID, audience members who wish to compete for prizes must present proof of their Social Security number for tax purposes.
  • "The Price Is Right" allows Canadian citizens to become contestants, too. In that case, the game show requires an individual's social insurance number.
  • You cannot become a contestant on "The Price Is Right" if (1) you have been a contestant on the game show before, (2) you have appeared on another game show in the past year, or (3) you have been on three or more game shows in the last ten years.
