Have you ever wanted to select by color in Adobe Photoshop? You could use Magic Wand tool, but sometimes that isn't very precise. Luckily, there's a better way: using the Select by Color Range command.

Step1
Click on the Select menu at the top of your Photoshop screen.
Step2
Choose "Color Range." A dialogue window will pop up. Within this window, you will see a likeness of the image. Make sure that "selection" is chosen under the image.
Step3
Grab one of the eyedropper tools, and click on part of the image. you will notice the display alters to correspond with what you sampled.
Step4
Hold down the shift key to add more color to your selection.
Step5
Hit "OK" when you have finished selection. Now you can see your selection on the main image.
Step6
Make whatever adjustments you wish to your selection.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always keep a spare file of your image before you start making adjustments.
  • Get in the habit of duplicating your layer before you begin.
  • Deselect pixels by hitting Control-D
