How to Make Traditional Stuffed Peppers

Stuffed peppers are a traditional food in Albania and are widely known around the world. They taste exquisite and are delicious. This is the original way to make stuffed peppers according to the Albanians. This is a good homemade recipe that is very healthy. This recipe serves 4 people.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Kitchen mittens
  • an apron
  • 4 bell peppers
  • 2 medium-sized onions
  • 4 large tomatoes or mushroom and onion pasta sauce
  • as much cheese as you desire
  • olive oil
  • water
  • parsley
  • 1 pound of ground meat (or if a vegan, no meat at all)
  • 1 pound of rice

Step1
An image of how the onions will look at frying. Your first step is relatively simple: grind the onions and toss them into a pan and fry them in olive oil until they turn a golden color. Afterwards, fill up a flat pan with olive oil and toss the onions in there.
Step2
Fried tomatoes. Do the same to the tomatoes: grind them up and fry them for 5 minutes. They will also turn a bit brown red. Then toss them in the flat pan along with the fried onions.
Step3
Now you grind the ground meat and then mix them with the onions and tomatoes. Afterward, you fry all three of them. You now take ten liters of water and let it boil until all the water is drained.
Step4
After this, you take the rice and mix the ground beef, tomatoes, and onions and mix them together. Then pour your water. Let the rice boil and close the oven and let it cool.
Step5
Now you take the parsley, wash it and grind it and mix it with the rice mixture.
Step6
Bell peppers with no head. You take the bell peppers and cut the top off and cut the branch and seeds off.
Step7
Take the flat pan and mix it with butter and olive oil.
Step8
Then take the peppers and stuff it with the rice mixture and the leftover rice is thrown in the flat pan and above it you put the stuffed peppers.
Step9
Then boil water and water the flat pan. Now open the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and let it warm for five minutes. After heating, then take the flat pan and let it bake for thirty minutes.
Step10
Take the flat pan out of the oven (and close the oven) and cut it in fourths and put them on the plates and add the cheese and sauce according to your desire.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try to make it a bit decorative as you wish.
  • Stuff the bell peppers to the top.
  • Hold the flat pan with kitchen mittens
  • Don’t overheat
