Avoid Wasting Water in Southern California
Avoid Wasting Water in Southern California

2007 has been the driest year on record for most of Southern California. We also know that some 70% of water delivered into the area is used outdoors. Water restrictions have not yet been instituted. But the prudent, and environment conscious take the following steps to cut back on wasted water.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Reduce outdoor watering. Water every other day or every two days.

  2. Step 2

Turn off sprinkler systems after rain. Also, repair and replace broken sprinkler heads.

  3. Step 3

    Repair leaking toilets and faucets.

  4. Step 4

Turn off water when brushing teeth and shaving.

  5. Step 5

Take shorter showers. Showers are preferable to baths because they use less water.

  6. Step 6

Use a broom to clean driveways and sidewalks.

  7. Step 7

Run dishwasher and laundry only with full load.

  8. Step 8

Go to a car wash establishment. They use less water than you do.
