You made it through the courtship and proposal only to find yourself in a larger predicament: where to hold the wedding. While catering halls and event spaces are nice, they don't reflect every couples' tastes and desires. Finding a wedding location that fits into your budget and expresses your personality will make your special day shine
even brighter.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
List your five biggest interests and ask your fiancé to do the same.
Step2
Next to each interest, list a venue where it might take place—even if it seems atypical for a wedding. For example, if you listed "football" as an interest, then write "stadium" for the venue.
Step3
Highlight your three favorite.
Step4
Expand on your three favorites to include broader possibilities. For instance, next to stadium you can write “park” and “recreational area.”
Step5
Peruse wedding magazines such as Martha Stewart Wedding and wedding-related websites such as The Knot (www.theknot.com) to inspire further ideas. Add additional possibilities to your master list.
Step6
Conduct research. Call or write to places you listed and inquire about holding a reception or ceremony at that location. You might be surprised with what you find.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be creative and dare to think outside of tradition.
  • Don't forget that you aren't getting married alone. Take your fiance's thoughts and ideas into concern before making any major decisions.
