Children often get themselves scraped with scabs and cuts and sometimes, Mommies overreact about it. But relax, it is easily taken care of!

This is a simple how-to I made about health care and it is a bit challenging only because you need the certain equipment to do this.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • First aid-kit
  • Betadine
  • Medicinal Alcohol
  • Bandages and/or Band-Aids
  • Antibacterial Soap
  • Water
  • Antibiotic Ointment
  1. Step 1

Get your child or the child you are help to stay straight and advise them to calm down because everything is going to be OK.

  2. Step 2

Take the antibacterial soap and rub it on a piece of clean cloth and add water. Then rub it on the injury so that the surface will be clean and so the injury doesn't get infected with germs. Do this quickly so the surface does not get infected.

  3. Step 3

Check if it is excessively bleeding - if you have stitches, use them or go to the nearest possible hospital or to the doctors as an emergency. Otherwise, wipe the wound with the alcoholic treatment.

  4. Step 4

Now, add some betadine treatment to the wound in addition to the alcohol.

  5. Step 5

After applying betadine treatment, you should cover it up with some antibiotic ointment to make sure once more, that it doesn't get infected and causes bigger harm.

  6. Step 6

Apply a band-aid if it is a small cut or scrape. If the scrape is large, then you should tie it up with bandages. The use of band-aid or bandages depends on how big the cut/scrape is.

Tips & Warnings
  • Within each day, undo the bandage and wash and dry it so that it doesn't get dirty when the child does other activities.
  • Continue covering the wound up with antibiotic ointment.
  • If continuing bleeding, uncover wound and apply more betadine and alcohol until stops bleeding.
  • If the scrape/cut continues to excessively bleed although covered in betadine, cleansers, and antibiotics, then you should immediately call your doctor or a physician and tell them your problem.
  • If the cut is NOT caused naturally but by an animal bite, apply the same treatment, if doesn't work, call a physician.
  • If wound is not healed between 2-6 days and is still bleeding, (excessively or little by little)contact a physician or go to the hospital to ask for appliance of stitches.
