Making a film guerilla style-i.e, VERY low budget and without any permits

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A copy of a screenwriting program
  • A decent film vocabulary
  • Some creativity
  1. Step 1

THE IDEA-An idea can come from anywhere-a newspaper article, a real story on the news, or an adaptation of a novel. My film Ashton's Crumbs was based on a story in Oddly Enough - the real life story of a Mr. Feldman who was put on trial for fondling bread. You can't copyright an idea, so make sure you protect your script by sending it to the Writers Guild of America.

  2. Step 2

Determine your location-Starting out it's best to select one location. This makes your budget simple and less expensive. A horror film could take place in an old victorian mansion, like mine-if you're in San Jose!

  3. Step 3

Find actors-Craigs list is a good place for finding actors as well as casting services that are online. Most of the casting services don't charge for a listing.

  4. Step 4

Shoot your film-The best way to go these days is with a pro-sumer HD camera that can shoot in 24 frames. So, if your film's a masterpiece it will be easier to blow it up to 35MM for theatrical release.

  5. Step 5

Edit your movie: Again, there's a plethora of PC and mac based softwared systems that are easy to use.

  6. Step 6

Market your film-My latest film-The Injustice System in America is available on Netflix. The Secret was a smash just from online downloads. You don't have to go theatrical to make your film a hit. GOOD LUCK and let me know how your film goes.
